![]() ![]() It's difficult to pick individuals out,( we did get to.know some staff more than others), but everyone gave us amazing service, smiles and are a credit to your hotel. The restaurants (we preferred to the buffet), the service and food was amazing, nothing was too.much trouble and we were looked after well. The beach bar and lunch area was our choice at lunch time, with an added bonus of live music which is a great touch. However, we really enjoyed the facilities in the hotel from the gym, the lovely room, the hairdresser, the beach, which is just outside the hotel with a bar service. We were not disappointed! The Hemera is not an adult only hotel (which we tend to prefer) and is a larger hotel than the ones we normally stay in. Whatever you choose, I hope you come back here and report your experience.Having booked in May and June 2022 to the TUI BLUE Barut Andiz not far away, my husband and I were keen to try another Burat hotel close by, so in October we decided to book the Hemera. I have not stayed there so cannot comment on it. The one exception is the Barut Acanthus & Cennet which is a new five-star hotel a little nearer to Side built in the combined grounds of the demolished Barut Acanthus and Barut Cennet hotels. The strip of beach-front five-star hotels including the Sentido Perissia, Barut Arum, Crystal Sunrise Queen and Melas built in the late 80's and 90's hit the sweet spot in terms of location and quality. Generally, the nearer central Side the hotel, the older it is. They can also be half an hour by dolmuş from the Side bus station. the Sentido Roma is a beautiful mid-sized hotel on a gorgeous stretch of beach but is a full three hours walk along the beach from Side - I know, I did it. There are of course hundreds of other options out of central Side.īear in mind that some of the newer hotels are over 10km from Side and yet still described as being in Side, e.g. Once one has stayed in Side, it is hard to return to the 'artificial' resorts of Belek and Lara Beach.Īs for eating out, central Side can be very pricey for food and drinks but, as with all things, shopping around, asking prices first and wandering into the quieter back-streets can reveal relative bargains. Much care needs to be exercised when choosing! In the Summer you can pay anything from £3/night right up to £3000/night and price is not a great determiner of quality. The problem is that there are now around half a million hotel beds in the greater Side area and every category, style and location of hotel. Each has its merits but to me Side has it all - extraordinary ancient ruins with the centre built among and over them, the second-longest sandy beach in the Mediterranean and hotels that can easily out-class those in Belek. ![]() I know that people who visit Belek tend to return year after year to the exclusion of other resorts on the Antalya coast. My personal favourite is the Sunrise Queen but the Melas, immediately between the Hemera and Sunrise Queen and the Arum and Perissia hotels are also safe bets and all in a great location around 40 minutes walk along the pedestrian promenade to ancient Side. If you like the five star hotels of Belek then I would choose a five star in Side. ![]() I spent four weeks there in 1999 and chose not to return. It may have improved in the intervening years but it remains architecturally very simple - reminiscent of a Thai beach hotel to me. The Hemera is a very well established four-star so usually crops up at rates similar to nearby five star hotels. ![]()
